New job announcement

I’m thrilled to announce that today is my first day as Chief Product Officer at closedloop.ai! There’s a lot happening in stealth that I can’t talk about, but what I can say is that there is a huge opportunity in leveraging Generative AI to help patients, and I’m excited to bring my experience in AI-powered health navigation + consumer marketplaces to bear as a part of this team and mission.

I need a few weeks to get my footing, but I’m expecting to need to hire a couple experienced product managers and product designers. Shoot me a message if you, or someone you know, would be interested in learning more.

I want to give a big thanks to all of you who have been so supportive and helpful to me over the last 18 months. The job market was very tight in 2023, and very competitive in 2024. Many of you helped with introductions, networking calls, consulting and advising opportunities, or just hitting 👍 on my posts.

Most of all, I want to thank Karla, my amazing wife. She lived, and felt, every up and down of this process just as I did; helped edit a number of take-home project write-ups (we always joke that we’re a 2-for-1 deal — if you hire one of us, you get both of us); spent countless hours discussing and debating opportunities with me; and encouraged me to take time off, or to take it up a notch, exactly when I needed it.

I look forward to sharing a lot more with you once we’re out of stealth! Stay tuned.

A note to subscribers

Hey newsletter friends - I do plan to continue writing as normal. For better or worse, the dogs and my sleep schedule naturally wake me up between 5-5:30am every morning so there’s plenty of time to write before heading to work. (I get to work in an office again! I’ve been WFH since Covid started and I miss in-person work.)

I’m also continuing my advising and coaching work. If that’s of interest to you or your team, please let me know — I’ve got room for one more client.

Given my new job, I’ll definitely have finding Product Market fit on my mind, as well as consumer health products & behaviors (esp. combined with GenAI), what it’s like to build on top of OpenAI, and some other topics I can’t talk about yet. So we’ll keep using this space to explore that.

And, we’ll keep talking about other frequent topics here: advice I wish I had been given when I was a new manager, how to be better at strategy, working with difficult stakeholders, leadership during times of major change, etc.
